Tucson Symphony Orchestra is back at Linda Ronstadt Music Hall this weekend with the Three Mexican Tenors as part of the trioβs symphony tour.
The ensemble β Jorge Lopez-YaΓ±ez, Bernardo Bermudez and JosΓ© Luis OrdΓ³Γ±ez β is bringing its βAn Enchanted Evening with Three Mexican Tenorsβ program that borrows from opera, Broadway and Mexican classical music.
The program opens with Rossiniβs Overture from βThe Barber of Sevilleβ and closes with Jacques Revauxβs βMy Way,β made famous by Frank Sinatra.
In between, the trio will perform cornerstones of the operatic, classical and Broadway stages, works made famous by everyone from Pavarotti (Leoncavalloβs βMattinataβ and Eduardo di Capuaβs ββO sole mioβ) to Josh Groban (Rolf LΓΈvlandβs βYou Raise Me Upβ).
The program also includes Richard Rodgersβ βSome Enchanted Eveningβ from βSouth Pacificβ and Verdiβs βLibiamo neβ lieti caliciβ from βLa traviata.β
The programβs second half pays tribute to great singers from Mexico with songs by Mexican composers AgustΓn Lara (βGranadaβ) and Juan S. Garrido (βPelea de Gallosβ).
The Three Mexican Tenors and the orchestra, conducted by TSO Music Director JosΓ© Luis Gomez, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Music Hall, 260 S. Church Ave. Tickets are $12-$65 through tucsonsymphony.org or by calling 520-882-8585.
