200-year-old Torah

Beth Nakhai, an associate professor at the Arizona Center for Judaic Studies, unrolls a 200-year-old torah scroll in front of her students in an independent-study class on biblical Hebrew. A rabbi will do restoration work on the document.

The Arizona Center for Judaic Studies will host the lecture "Mapping Middle East Mayhem" 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30 at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road.

The lecture by Professor Laurie Zittrain Eisenberg of Carnegie Mellon University is part of the Shaol and Louis Pozez Memorial Lectureship Series.
