A pickup game breaks out after the end of youth night at the Marana meetinghouse of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As the church grows, wards and β€œstakes” are created and divided to keep congregations from becoming too large.

The Tucson North Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will honor four teachers nominated by students for the annual Crystal Apple Teacher Recognition Awards 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 at the stake’s center, 939 W. Chapala Drive.

Members of the church who attend these schools also planned the ceremony, which honors Cynthia Blackey of Basis Oro Valley, Michelle Gerard of Canyon del Oro High School and Kevin Baker and AJ Lepore of Ironwood Ridge High School, according to press materials.
