Max the dog and a girl named Tori take the first trip to the moon since the Apollo era in the popular book “Max Goes to the Moon” by Jeffrey Bennett.
Not only an enjoyable children’s story, the book proves to be educational and inspirational with sidebars for older children explaining the science behind the scenes and an ending that brings the nations of Earth together in realizing what a small and precious planet it is.
Now, the book is bringing its fans together for a chance to meet the author and have him sign their copies of the book at 3 p.m. next Sunday, Nov. 15 at Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium, 1601 E. University Blvd.
The event starts with a free screening of the animated planetarium show “Max Goes to the Moon,” based on the book.
Fun fact: “Max Goes the the Moon” was the first book to be read in the Story Time From Space Program, in which astronauts on the International Space Station read stories to children on Earth.
