With school ending in a few short months, itโ€™s time to start thinking about what to do with the kids during the summer break.

Luckily, Tucson has a variety of summer programs.

For example, Opening Minds through the Arts โ€” OMA for short โ€” is again offering its Smart Art Summer School .

The program, in its second year, will engage kids entering grades three through six in โ€œacademically enriching arts experiencesโ€ like dance, drama, choir, band, orchestra and visual art.

โ€œThis is a one-of-a-kind summer program because we have certified, highly trained teachers, who are both artists and educators skilled at integrating the arts with academic curriculum,โ€ said Melissa Callahan, program coordinator.

Smart Art Summer School will take place at Kellond Elementary School, 6606 E. Lehigh Drive, from June 6 to June 30, with full- and half-day options.

Fees for the program are $150 for half day and $300 for full day.

This is just one of many summer programs offered to kids in Tucson in a variety of subjects, from arts to science to sports.

If youโ€™re with an organization that is hosting a summer camp, itโ€™s time to enter your information in the Starโ€™s summer program list.

See the adjacent info box for a step-by-step guide on how to list your programs โ€” and how to search for them โ€” in our online database and calendar.
