Tucson International Airport will welcome mini-me versions of The Maverick Live Country Club and Thunder Canyon Brewstillery to its stable of locally-themed restaurants and watering holes.
The two restaurants/bars are set to open Wednesday, July 11 — the Maverick near the A Gates, Thunder Canyon at the B Gates — joining other local eateries Sir Veza's Kitchen & Kantina, Beyond Bread, Empire Pizza, El Charro Cafe and Noble Hops.
The restaurants, which are related to their namesakes by name only, are all part of the airport's $28 million "A Brighter TUS" project. The goal of the project, launched in March 2016 with the first phase of restaurants opening last fall, was aimed at improving passenger terminals.
