This outdoor staircase at the front of the William Graham Bells' Spanish type house leads to the second floor study which is inside the dome. All the front windows of the white adobe house are covered with wrought iron grillwork.

Patio of the William G. Bells' desert home: Heavy white iron gates open onto the William Graham Bells' beautifully landscaped patio. The carefully manicured green lawn and lovely trees offer a sharp contrast to the surrounding desert.

Ted DeGrazia did the colorful murals in the bar. Below them, the walls are lines with black leather sofas. The bar (foreground) is black marble. To protect it from scratches, Mrs. Bell has covered the marble top with a black cotton rug cut to the shape of the bar. The walls in this cozy room are off-white and the ceiling, a shocking pink. To the left of the bar β but not pictured β is a color television set.

Through the opening of the fireplace separating the sun porch and living room, one sees this lovely desert mural by Jeffrey Holt of Los Angeles. This picture was taken from the sun porch.

Rattan furniture, beamed ceilings and a fiber rug led a rustic touch to the sun porch. Quilted sofas are beige with a blue and brown design. Walls are blue. The paintings over the fireplace and on the far wall in the dining area are by Jack Can Rider of Amado.

Graceful arches and heavy oak latticed doors lead to the main entrance of the Spanish-type house. The cobblestone courtyard lies beyond. To the right of the passageway is the garage. Mr. Bell's hobby β racing sports cars β has taken him and Mrs. Bell across the Southwest, to Honolulu, down to Sebring, Fla., and as far as Caracas, Venezuela. He drives an Italian car, the O.S.C.A.

In contrast to the rigged desert which surrounds the house is the Bells' beautifully planted back patio. One of the most charming scenes in the picturesque gardens is the fountain with two curved benches.
