Molina is 1st non-attorney to head board of Southern Arizona Legal Aid
Shirley Molina of the Schuchulig Village on the Tohono O’odham Nation was elected president of the Southern Arizona Legal Aid Inc. board of directors.
Molina is the first Tohono O’odham, as well as the first non-attorney, to chair the 24-member board. She has been a board member for 12 years.
SALA, established in 1951, is a private, nonprofit firm that provides free civil legal aid to low-income individuals and families in Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz, Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Gila, Navajo and Apache counties, as well as to 11 of Arizona’s 22 Native American tribes.
