NAU coach Murphy on upward path

A new name has popped up on the coaching-search radar: NAU’s Jack Murphy. After an opening 11-21 season in Flagstaff two years ago, Murph’s Lumberjacks were 20-14 entering Saturday’s CIT game at Sacramento State. Only 35, Murphy has an attractive background: eight years as part of Lute Olson’s Arizona staff, three years with the Denver Nuggets and three more with Josh Pastner at Memphis. He has finished second and third in the last two Big Sky Conference seasons. Murphy is engaging, tough-minded and on an upward trajectory.
