Officials with the state’s Medicaid program will hold a meeting in Tucson on Thursday, Feb. 22, that will focus on how to spend an infusion of money for Arizonans with substance-use disorders.
The meeting is set for 10 a.m. to noon at Cenpatico Integrated Care, 333 E Wetmore Road. It is aimed at Medicaid enrollees, families, stakeholders and partners, but anyone from the public is invited to attend.
The Tucson meeting is one of several being held around the state, hosted by officials with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), which is the state’s Medicaid program.
The program for low-income people insures 1 in every 4 Arizonans, including nearly 300,000 Pima County residents.
The community meetings are being held on the heels of the Arizona Opioid Epidemic Act, which Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed into law on Jan. 26.
“The meeting is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend these forums, designed to gather input on how substance-abuse resources and funding can best meet the needs of communities,” AHCCCS spokeswoman Heidi Capriotti wrote in an email.
