Terra the tamandua clings to a teddy bear substitute for mom as she waits to be weighed at Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, AZ. on Thursday, May 18, 2017. The month-old baby tamandua, born on April 22 weighed in at 730 grams, about 1.6 pounds, on Monday. The twice-a-week weigh-in and veterinary check lasts only a few minutes otherwise the baby stays attached to her mother most of the time. Though not on exhibit, Zoo tamanduas make regular appearances during education programs and formal presentations. They also go for informal walks with the animal care staff on zoo grounds!
