Community input sought for Tucson Unified's superintendent search

The Tucson Unified School District wants to hear from the public about who they want as its next leader.

The district will host three interactive sessions Thursday, June 8, in the multipurpose room at Duffy Community Center, 5145 E. Fifth St., to gather input.

The morning session starts at 10 a.m., afternoon session at 1 p.m. and evening session, 5 p.m. Each session lasts two hours.

Community members can ask questions or share their ideas. Those who cannot attend in person can email Nic Clement of the Arizona School Boards Association — the consultant in charge of the superintendent search — at clementn53@gmail.com.

Gabriel Trujillo, an assistant superintendent with the district, currently serves as the interim superintendent while the Governing Board searches for a permanent one.

The new superintendent will be paid a base salary of between $180,000 and $230,000 to oversee more than 47,000 students in 89 schools and programs.
