Kevin Dahl, Tucsonโ€™s vice mayor, has been named to the transition committee for Senator-elect Ruben Gallego.

The transition team is made up of 21 members and โ€œwill meet regularly to advise Senator-elect Gallego on key priorities important to Arizonans,โ€ according to a news release from the newly elected senator. โ€œThe committee will outreach to communities across Arizona, assist with staff needs, and assemble advisory groups in the first 100 days of Senator-elect Gallegoโ€™s term.โ€

Dahl, who represents Tucsonโ€™s midtown Ward 3, told the Star Thursday that he will be part of an advisory group that will provide feedback on staffing for four offices Gallego will have across Arizona and a fifth in Washington, D.C. The state field offices will be located in Tucson, Phoenix, Flagstaff and Yuma.

Dahl said he will be going over resumรฉs and cover letters for office posts.

Dahl said he wonโ€™t be leaving his post on the city council, nor will he apply for any of the positions. The committee has yet to meet and Dahl says he isnโ€™t sure how long his services will be needed.

As of late Thursday afternoon, Gallego led Republican challenger Kari Lake by 79,102 votes.

There were still some 99,000 ballots to be tallied as of Wednesday night, but almost half of those were in Pima County, where Gallego was outpolling Lake by a 3-2 margin, Howard Fischer, of Capitol Media Services, has reported.
