The City of Tucson is providing sandbags for residents whose property needs protection from flooding because of the monsoon storms.
The city pilot program has opened the distribution site at Tucson Fire Department Station 7, 4902 E. Pima St., said Lane Mandle, a city spokeswoman.
There is a limit of 10 bags per person to accommodate as many residents as possible, Mandle said. The pre-filled sandbags are stacked on the westside of the fire station, and the public is asked to use the North Arcadia Avenue entrance to the station.
Motorists must not block the driveway access to the fire satation, said Mandle.
City staff will not be available to help residents load the bags onto their vehicles, she said.
A stock of 10,000 sandbags will be available through the monsoon season.
