One man was hospitalized after a fire early Saturday near Roger and Oracle roads, officials say.

A man pulled from a burning apartment Saturday has died from his injuries, Tucson fire officials say.

The fire was reported shortly after 1 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 300 block of West Roger Road, near North Oracle Road, said Capt. Julian Herrera, a Tucson Fire Department spokesman.

Firefighters arrived within three minutes of being dispatched and found smoke and flames coming from a second-floor apartment, and police officers were evacuating residents from neighboring units.

Firefighters found a man inside the burning apartment and he was taken to the hospital, Herrera said in a news release.

The apartment lacked a working fire alarm, Herrera said.

The cause of the blaze is still undetermined and there were no other injuries.
