Re: the July 3 article "3 major projects set west of downtown Tucson."

As an 'A' Mountain Neighborhood resident, I am happy about the progress that has come to the west side. When I moved to the area in 2009, there were a lot of rumors but not much in the way of actual development. Since then we’ve seen the Mercado San Agustin, new housing, improvements to the river park, and more money for our streets.

Ward 1 Tucson City Councilwoman Regina Romero has had a hand in that. When funding for the streetcar was threatened, she pushed to see that it made it to the west side. She secured money for the Cushing Street bridge and advocated for our roads to benefit from the streets bond. Now Grande, Congress, and Mission are in good shape. That should help bring even more prosperity to the area.

Regina's work to bring private and public entities around the same table to move development forward should not be overlooked. Let’s give credit where credit is due. It’s only fair.
