With an overcrowding crisis on its hands, the Pima County Animal Care Center is offering free adoptions for all dogs 6 months and older.
Since May 1, PACC has taken in 488 dogs and 268 cats. With breeding season underway, multiple litters and puppies and kittens have been entering the shelter each day, causing an urgent need for adopters and fosters, according to a release.
βThe situation at PACC is increasingly dire, as there is not one single space to put an incoming dog right now,β said Karen Hollish, PACCβs director of development and marketing.
Through May 21, adoption fees on dogs will be waived, with adopters only having to pay a $17 license fee. All dogs come spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and with a voucher for a free vet visit.
Fosters families are also needed for puppies, kittens and injured cats and dogs who just need a break for kennel life.
PACC is open for adoptions Monday through Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
