A teen riding a motorized bicycle was struck by a car Thursday in Oro Valley, and was flown by helicopter to Banner-University Medical Center.

The boy suffered head injuries in the crash that occurred shortly before 5 p.m., said Battalion Chief Josh Hurguy of the Golder Ranch Fire District.

The driver of the car and her passenger, also a woman, were both taken by ambulance to Oro Valley Hospital, authorities said. The driver suffered a seizure and the passenger suffered an anxiety attack, said Hurguy

Traffic detectives with the Oro Valley Police Department were investigating the scene, said Sgt. Carmen Trevizo.

A preliminary investigation shows that the car was traveling west on West Silverleaf Drive and the bicyclist was traveling north on North Copper Creek Drive, Trevizo said.

Specifics of how the accident occurred were under investigation. No further information was immediately available.

The neighborhood is in a subdivision east of North La CaΓ±ada Drive and south of West Tangerine Road.
