If you’re behind on your water bill, you can now expect a call from Tucson Water’s new automated message system.

The water company recently implemented a calling system which sends a recorded voice message to customers who have received two delinquent notices by mail.

The message offers customers the option to make a payment or contact Tucson Water for payment arrangements.

Tucson Water spokesman Fernando Molina said the calling system serves the dual purpose of helping customers avoid their water getting turned off and saving the company money.

β€œWe strive to offer our customers every opportunity to avoid

disruption of service,” Molina said in a press release. β€œIt is also more cost-efficient for Tucson Water not to have to lock water meters then return to unlock them once an account has been settled.”

The message, in both English and Spanish, provides the customer’s

account number and delinquent balance due. Customers receiving the recorded voice message about a delinquent account have three options:

β€’Call (520) 791-3242 anytime to make a payment over the phone.

•E-mail TW_CustomerService@tucsonaz.gov to request payment arrangements.

β€’Contact Customer Services/Billing at (520) 791-3242.

Tucson Water warns customers to watch out for potential scams.

The company does not contact customers and ask for personal information such as bank account and social security numbers over the phone.

The outbound calling system is operative Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
