Nearly $1 million in methamphetamine found hidden in an SUV was seized by Border Patrol agents at a I-19 checkpoint.
The seizure was made Thursday after an agent's drug-sniffing dog alerted to an odor in the rear portion of an SUV, according to a news release.
Agents conducted a secondary inspection and found several packages of the drug hidden in the vehicle. The value of the drugs was estimated at $918,500.
The driver was taken into custody by federal authorities. In addition to the drugs, the vehicle also was seized.
The checkpoint was near Nogales.
