The Rincon/University High School Ranger Marching Band received the highest rank possible at Saturday's University of Arizona Band Day competition.

The band was the only one to receive the Superior with Distinction ranking and also took home the Nunamaker Award, which honors the most outstanding group.

Approximately 40 southwest high schools were invited to participate in UA Band Day where they performed their original halftime shows and were rated in six professional categories.

The Ranger Marching Band's next stop is Saturday for the Casa Grande Competition, followed by the State Marching Festival on Nov. 7.
