Neighbors heard the boom during a powerful electrical storm Saturday night, looked out, saw smoke and flames in a rooftop and called 911.

Lightning had struck the highest pitched point of the tile roof on a home in Dove Mountain on Tucson's far northwest side, in the 12000 block of North Lost Shadow Court, said Capt. Adam Goldberg, a spokesman for Northwest Fire District.

Flames damaged the attic, but Northwest firefighters arrived within three minutes of the call and were able to put the fire out before it spread. The home's interior suffered minor smoke damage, Goldberg said, estimating total damage at $7,000.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire, shortly before 8 p.m., and there were no injuries.
