The Oro Valley Police Department released video this week of an officer-involved shooting last September that wounded a man who had fired at police officers.

The video, taken from an officer's body camera, show Oro Valley police breaking down the door of a residence. A 41-year-old man, later identified as Stephen H. Stribling, inside the house fired once at the officers, said Lt. Kara Riley, a spokeswoman for the department.

Detective Zachary Young, a 10-year veteran of the force, then fires three times at the suspect, who is wounded in the shooting. The video then shows the injured man crawling out of the house, Riley said.

Riley said the video was released because all of the investigations into the shooting, including an internal affairs probe and a Pima County Sheriff's Department investigation, have been completed. Detective Young was cleared in the shooting, Riley said.

According to Star archives

Stribling was indicted Oct. 15 on two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, one count of second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, one narcotic drug selling charge and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana for sale, according to the Oro Valley Police Department.

Oro Valley police said the shooting occurred at a residence following a traffic stop.

At about 10 a.m. Sept. 29, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of West Hardy Road and North Northern Ave., authorities said.

The driver was pulled over, but he fled during the stop, entering a nearby residential area, said Riley. The man was the only occupant of the vehicle. During the search, the suspect was located in the area of the 9000 block of North Morning View Drive and taken into custody, Riley said.

Evidence found on the suspect and in the vehicle indicated the sale and trafficking of narcotics and led officers to a residence in the area of North Shadow Mountain Drive, for which they obtained a warrant.

During the service of the warrant, another man at the residence confronted officers with a gun and fired at them, Riley said.

One officer returned fire, striking Stribling, who was transported to a hospital.

No officers were injured during the confrontation, Riley said.
