The Kelli Ward for Senate campaign has announced it has hired the former Arizona state director for Rand Paul’s 2016 presidential campaign,Β Shawn Dow, as its political director.

An announcement from the Ward campaign notes that Dow has experience working on both local and federal races. Prior to working on Sen. Paul's presidential campaign, Dow worked on the 2012 presidential campaign of Paul’s father, Ron.

Dow also served as campaign manager for Rep. David Schweikert during his reelection campaign to the House of Representatives in 2012.

β€œShawn has fought on the frontlines for individual liberty and smaller government for more than a decade, working tirelessly to help elect liberty-loving conservatives across America to public office. He’s also been instrumental in holding elected officials accountable," Ward said. "Shawn’s experience and winning mentality will elevate our ground game to the next level."

His job duties include working state leaders and organizations, coordinating get-out-the-vote efforts, and supporting field staff and volunteers on the ground.

Dow is expected to join campaign advisor Ed Rollins and Ward on a call with reporters tomorrow, ahead of two campaigns events featuring Sebastian Gorka, a formerΒ deputy assistant toΒ President Donald Trump.

Ward, best known for challenging John McCain on 2016, is in crowded field of Republicans vying to replace Sen. Jeff Flake, including former Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Rep. Martha McSally.Β
