A pedestrian was killed in a crash on Tucson's north side Monday night.

In an unrelated incident, a man was struck by a car at North Campbell Avenue and East Mitchell Street in a hit-and-run also on Monday night, police said. The man was seriously injured.

The first incident, which was the fatality, occurred on East Prince Road and Prince is shut down between North Campbell Avenue and North Martin Avenue, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman, in a tweet Oct. 2 shortly before 9 p.m. Martin Avenue is east of North Mountain Avenue.

Prince will be closed for several hours, and motorists were advised to avoid the area, Bay said.

The crash occurred in front of a Safeway plaza and witnesses said a man was killed. He was struck by a minivan and the driver, who appeared to be in his late teens or early 20s, indicated that the pedestrian dashed in front of his vehicle, said Monica Bustamante, 28, who was working at a Dollar Tree store.

In the second incident, police are searching for a black sedan with front end damage, Bay said. Campbell between East Mitchell and East Glenn streets was closed. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
