A sampling of meats at Mr. K's BBQ.

Tucson's seen an ebb and flow of barbecue restaurants over the years, with a few locations standing the test of time.

Barbecue is back in a big way, with several new locations popping up around town over the last few years.

But sometimes you can't go wrong with an old classic, and a travel website certainly agrees.

When it comes to barbecue spots, fancy doesn't necessarily mean good, so Only in Your State tried out the fare at some of Arizona's hole in the wall barbecue restaurants.

Two Tucson-area spots found their way onto the list of 10, and both of them are widely considered longtime favorites among locals.

First on the list is Bubb's Grub located at 16110 North Oracle Road, in an area that can be considered Catalina or Tucson.

"You’ll find a huge menu where you can select your choice of juicy, savory meat in a style similar to Central Texas barbecue," Only in Your State writes in the article. "If you really want to make your meal unforgettable, start your meal with a serving of Wisconsin cheese curds!"

A few spots down on the list is Tucson classic, Mr. K's Original BBQ, which opened nearly 20 years ago and is now located at 6302 South Park Avenue.

"If you like taking a nap after your meal, make sure to dine at this restaurant," according to Only in Your State. "This Tucson favorite serves huge portions of ridiculously good barbecue and you won’t want any bite of this to go to waste."

Check out the full list here, because it's never too early to start thinking about lunch. Or dinner.
