In two different incidents less than a mile from each other, Tucson fire crews rescued four people from rushing floodwaters Friday night on the city's south side.

Firefighters were captured on video using a fire engine ladder about 8:30 p.m. to rescue two people who were trapped in their car near West District Street and South 16th Avenue.

According to a news release from the Tucson Fire Department, water moved the car and pinned it against a concrete pillar. Several bystanders called 911.

Crews were able to rescue the two people in the car and they did not sustain any injuries.

"An extremely close call tonight as firefighters had to rescue two occupants from their SUV that was trapped in a wash near 16th Ave. and District," the department's Facebook page said. "Thankfully crews were able to rescue the occupants but please turn around, don't drown."

Within 20 minutes of the first call, Tucson fire responded to another incident less than a mile away at West Pennsylvania Drive and South Lundy Avenue, the release shows.

Two people had moved to the top of their truck, which was also pinned against concrete pillars. The people were rescued by crews and did not sustain any injuries.

At least six other calls involving stranded vehicles were also reported during the storm, the release said.
