A two-vehicle crash Thursday on Tucson's southeast side sent seven people to the hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, said Deputy Courtney Rodriguez, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.

One of the vehicles involved was a Sun Van, Rodriguez said.

Paramedics of the Rural/Metro Fire Department responded to the scene at 7700 E. Valencia Road, east of South Kolb Road and treated and transported the injured.

The Sun Van was traveling east on Valencia and the other vehicle was headed west when it went west of the center and struck the van head-on, said Deputy Courtney Rodriguez, a sheriff's spokeswoman. The investigation is continuing and no further information was released.

Firefighters used cutting tools to remove the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, according to a Rural/Metro Facebook post. The use of seatbelts lessened the injuries, authorities said.
