A man wanted in Tucson for failure to appear in court after being convicted in a stalking case last year has been arrested in New York.

The U.S. Marshals Service says 40-year-old Jamie Jackson was taken into custody Monday and is awaiting extradition to Arizona.

Jackson was accused of trying to strangle his girlfriend during a September 2016 argument.

The woman then obtained an order of protection against Jackson.

But authorities say Jackson continued to make phone calls and send text messages and emails to the victim.

He also showed up at the woman's home and workplace and chased after her in a vehicle when she attempted to leave.

Jackson missed the remainder of his March 2018 trial on charges of aggravated harassment, stalking and aggravated assault charges.
