The Arizona Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Arizona will host a lecture featuring a scholar of modern Israel studies.

The lecture, β€œFrom the Arab Spring to ISIS: The Upheavals in the Middle East and What They Mean for Israel,” will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road.

The featured speaker, Asher Susser, a visiting professor at the UA and a senior fellow and professor at the Moshe Dayan Center of Middle Eastern Studies at Tel Aviv University in Israel, will provide his insight on current conflicts in the Middle East, including the Arab Spring and the rise of the group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

The Dec. 8 lecture is the third in a series of six the center is hosting as part of the Shaol and Louis Pozez Memorial lectureship series.

The center will host three more events throughout the spring semester, including a fine arts symposium and lectures featuring journalist Masha Gessen and Sidnie White Crawford, a professor of classic and religious studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
