There, a drug dog found nearly 72 pounds of meth hidden in the KIA van she was driving. The drugs were worth about $215,000, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection.

Customs agents in Nogales arrested four people and seized meth, cocaine and marijuana in separate smuggling attempts last week.

On Aug. 27, agents at the DeConcini crossing sent a woman from Hermosillo, Sonora, to a secondary inspection. There a drug dog found nearly 72 pounds of meth hidden in the KIA van she was driving. The drugs were worth about $215,000, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection.

On Aug. 26, officers at the Mariposa crossing found more than 11 pounds of cocaine, worth about $125,000, in a Honda van driven by a 25-year-old woman who is a U.S. citizen living in Nogales, Sonora. A drug dog also found more than 25 pounds of meth, worth about $76,000, and more than one pound of marijuana, CBP said.

On Aug. 25 officers stopped two smuggling attempts: At the DeConcini crossing agents seized 18 pounds of cocaine, worth about $204,000, from a Dodge truck being driven by a 41-year-old Mexican national. Then, at the Mariposa crossing agents seized 26 pounds of meth and nearly 26 pounds of cocaine from a Ford truck driven by a 42-year-old Mexican national. The drugs were worth a total of about $373,000.

Agents seized the four vehicles and all four people were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
