Therapeutic Riding Of Tucson (TROT)

Therapeutic Riding Of Tucson, which helps people with disabilities, is in need of saddles, lawn furniture and a horse trailer, among other items.

The Community Wish List column allows nonprofits to list their donation needs in the Star. The list runs weekly and is open to nonprofits in the community.

Many of the nonprofits that have listed in the column report success in getting some of their donation needs filled. Here are a few examples:

Cathy Brooks with TROT Therapeutic Riding of Tucson said a donor, in concert with auto dealer Jim Click, provided the organization with a new truck.

β€œJust to let you know that our last list was a huge hit,” Brooks said about the donation. β€œThis was a direct result of your wish list and we want to thank you for offering this opportunity to nonprofits.”

Joyce Sanford of Southern Arizona Golden Retriever Rescues, said its wish list resulted in the donation of trophies from Tuller Trophy for its golf tournament.

β€œThat wasn’t even on our list, but this kind person thought out of the box and offered us a great gift. We are very grateful for your help. I hope all the other charities are as fortunate as we have been,” Sanford wrote.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Werner of the Eastside Neighbors Volunteer Program said the publication of its wish list was also a success for the group.

β€œWe received a phone call from a woman who donated a copier/printer along with some office supplies,” Werner said. β€œWe are thrilled.”
