There is little standing in the way of Rep. RaΓΊl Grijalva and another term in Congress.

The Tucson Democrat has no formal competition on the ballot in November. Republican Edna San Miguel dropped out of the race in June after a Pima County Superior Court found she was 80 short of the 864 signatures required to be on the ballot.

Miguel then attempted to run as a write-in candidate, along with Democrat Harvey Martin. Neither name will appear on the November ballot, however.

Grijalva has been collecting donations and has a number of events planned over the coming weeks by his re-election campaign, A Whole Lot of People for Grijalva.

A week ago, the 68-year-old Grijalva spent time in South Dakota meeting with Native American leaders to listen to their opposition to the Dakota Access pipeline.

In June, he officially backed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, shortly after his first choice for the job β€” Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders β€” ended his campaign.

On his campaign website, the seven-term congressman lists the economy, criminal justice reform, education and the environment as some of his top issues.
