A Tucson man who was recently convicted of animal cruelty and prohibited possession is on the run, authorities said.
Last May, a woman saw her neighbor, Marvin Christy walking up the road with a shotgun, according to a Facebook post from the Pima County Attorney's Office.
The woman gathered her dogs to go in the house and heard multiple gunshots, after which she realized one of her dogs was not inside with her, according to the post.
She found the dog on her front porch with visible injuries from having been shot, the post said.
When police questioned Christy, he admitted to shooting the dog more than once. A search of Christy's house revealed multiple firearms, which as a prohibited possessor, he was not allowed to have, the post said.
The dog sustained non life-threatening injuries, but will likely walk with a limp for the rest of it's life, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
Christy, who did not show up for his trial, was ultimately convicted in absentia of cruelty to animals and four counts of prohibited possession of a firearm, according to the post.
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant and anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is encouraged to call 88-CRIME.
