Customs officers and police in Nogales busted three gun smuggling attempts in five days.Β 

On Jan. 9, customs officers arrested a 21-year-old Mexican man from Nogales, Sonora on suspicion of trying to smuggle tactical weapons and ammunition into Mexico.Β 

Officers working at the Dennis DeConcini port of entry in downtown Nogales, Arizona on Monday seized seven tactical rifles, one handgun, two holsters, and a variety of magazines and ammunition from a large speaker box in the man's Chevrolet truck, according to a news release from CBP.Β 

On Jan. 8, law enforcement officers arrested a 39-year-old U.S. citizen who was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee about 75 feet north of an unspecified port of entry in Nogales,Β federal court records show. Officers found 8,500 rounds of ammunition inside the man's vehicle.Β 

On Jan. 5, Nogales police arrested a 34-year-old Mexican woman who was driving a GMC Yukon with 19,200 rounds of ammunition and three firearms, court records show.
