A Mexican national was arrested Tuesday at a Nogales port of entry after attempting to smuggle $335,000 in illegal drugs.

A drug-sniffing dog alerted federal officers to a speaker box in the trunk of the 32-year-old man's Chevrolet sedan at the Dennis DeConcini crossing.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found more than 2 pounds of cocaine, nearly 15 pounds of heroin and nearly 17 pounds of methamphetamine, according to a news release.

Officers also found a package containing 1,000 oxycodone pills, authorities said.

The drugs and vehicle were seized and the man was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. Β
