Customs agents in Nogales seized about $60,000 worth of heroin from three women who tried crossing with the drugs hidden on their bodies and in a purse, Customs and Border Protection said.

Federal agents at the DeConcini crossing in Nogales seized more than 3 pounds of heroin from three women crossing at separate times on Tuesday.

In the first case, a 17-year-old Nogales, Arizona, woman was sent for an additional inspection and was found to be carrying more than a pound of heroin in her groin area, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection.

A few hours later, a 25-year-old Rio Rico woman was caught trying to smuggle a pound of heroin across, also in her groin area,

Later in the day, agents stopped a 43-year-old Tucson woman and found she was carrying a pound of heroin in her purse.

Combined the drugs were worth about $60,000, CBP said.
