Pima County Health Department: The Pima County Health Department has successfully completed a review process to maintain national accreditation status through the Public Health Accreditation Board. In maintaining its accreditation for another five years, the Health Department has demonstrated that it meets PHAB’s quality standards and measures and has the capacity to continue to evolve, improve and advance to continue improving the health of Pima County residents.
The Pima County Health Department is one of 364 health departments out of 1,865 nationally that have achieved accreditation through PHAB since the organization launched in 2011. Of the 134 health departments accredited in 2016 — the year the Pima County Health Department was accredited — 91 have been reaccredited.
The national accreditation program works to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing and ultimately transforming the quality and performance of the nation’s state, local, tribal and territorial public health departments.
