Blenman Elm Neighborhood Association: Blenman Elementary School received $1,900 from the Blenman Elm Neighborhood Association to contribute toward the school’s goal of purchasing new playground equipment.

Proceeds from the recent home tour of the historic neighborhood were given to the school, also housed in a historic building. Blenman Elementary is part of Tucson Unified School District. The neighborhood association has also encouraged residents to support the school with Arizona Tax Credit contributions.

Transit Tea: In honor of International Day of Play, Transit Tea donated 50% of all proceeds from sales on June 11 to Children’s Museum Tucson — Oro Valley.

International Day of Play recognizes the value of play for the growth and development of children and encourages businesses and organizations to provide more time and opportunities for kids to take part in play.

Tucson Subaru: Tucson Subaru partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to deliver a donation of 50 blankets, patient care kits and handwritten messages of hope to Banner University Medicine Diamond Children’s Medical Center. The donation was made as part of Subaru Loves to Care, a national initiative championed by Subaru of America, Inc.

Tucson Subaru also contributed $10,000 to the LLS Urgent Need Program (pediatric), which provides financial assistance to households of pediatric blood cancer patients for transportation, child care, food, housing and other necessities.

Pima Federal Credit Union: Pima Federal’s annual Golf Classic raised $78,000 to be split equally between Youth On Their Own and Impact of Southern Arizona.

The event was held May 2 at the Golf Club at Dove Mountain with 140 golfers, a live raffle and silent auction.

Since the Golf Classic was established in 2013, a total of $706,000 has been raised, a news release said.

“The Golf Classic is a rewarding event that allows us to make a positive impact in our community,” said Pima Federal President and CEO Eric Renaud. “The funds raised will equally support the two beneficiaries to fulfill their mission of serving others.”

A German discount grocery store, known for its cart rentals and popular “aisle of shame,” is opening in Tucson.
