Consumer Spending

Gas prices surged this week across Arizona and the nation as oil prices soared on renewed Ukrainian attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure and increasing tension in the Middle East, AAA says.

The statewide average gas price rose more than 20 cents in a week to a rounded $4.00 per gallon of regular on Friday, while the national average gained about a nickel to $3.58 per gallon.

Tucson’s average gas price surged nearly 27 cents to $3.94 per gallon.

Yuma had the state’s lowest average gas price at $3.67 per gallon, while Scottsdale had the highest at $4.19 per gallon.

AAA said increasing demand, declining fuel stocks and higher oil will likely continue to push up pump prices.

With gas prices staying stubbornly high in Tucson and across Arizona, some small steps can add up to save you real money on your fuel bills.
