Gas prices edged upward in Arizona while dropping on a nationwide basis as demand remained relatively weak and oil costs moderated, AAA says.
The statewide average gas price rose nearly 2 cents in a week to $3.48 per gallon of regular on Friday, while the national average fell about 6 cents to $3.37 per gallon.
Tucson had the stateโs lowest average gas price, down fractionally on the week at $3.42 per gallon, while Scottsdale had the stateโs priciest gas at an average $3.57 per gallon.
Gas prices have fallen overall recently as demand remained relatively flat and oil prices retreated from around $80 per barrel earlier this month to below $75 over the past week.
Tucson's average gas price is up about 10 cents per gallon in the past month but about 50 cents per gallon lower than this week last year, according to AAA data.
