The Canine Walk for Cops is Saturday at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park.

The Tucson Police Foundation is holding its ninth annual Canine Walk for Cops on Saturday.

The event takes place at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, 3536 E. River Road. Check-in is at 7:30 a.m.; the walk begins at 8.

The event raises money for the foundation, which supports Tucson police with equipment, technology and training.

Last year the foundation raised funds to provide the Tucson Police Departmentโ€™s K-9 unit with vehicle heat sensors/alarms for vehicles that transport the dogs, nonlethal pepperball systems and remote-control robotic cameras.

The entry fee is $20, which covers two walkers and one dog. Additional dogs can be added for $10 each. Each registered dog receives a goody bag with toys, samples and offers.

The walk is one mile through the park and along the Rillito River, followed by a raffle, K-9 demonstrations and dog contests with awards.

Attendance is limited to the first 200 registrants. All dogs must be up to date on their vaccines, be on a leash at all times, be at least 6 months old and be nonaggressive. Primary walkers must be at least 18 years old.

You can register in advance at www.tucsonpolicefoundation.org and click on the Canine Walk for Cops link. Registration is available at the event if the 200 limit has not been reached.
