The city of Tucson is reducing the number of Neighborhood Recycling Centers from a dozen down to seven.
Eight existing centers will be closed, four will remain open and three new centers will open in July.
The city will continue to support the continuation of drop-off recycling options consisting of one center in each of the six wards.
The centers that will be closed by the end of June are:
- Joaquin Murrieta Park, northwest corner of Club View and El Rio drives.
- Morris K. Udall Park,
- Tanque Verde Road, one quarter mile east of Sabino Canyon Road.
- Miller-Golf Links Library,
- 9640 E. Golf Links Road.
- Golf Links Sports Park, northwest corner of
- Craycroft and Golf Links roads.
- Kennedy Park, northwest of the library,
- west of Mission Road, north of Ajo Way.
- Booth-Fickett Magnet School,
- 7240 E. Calle Arturo.
- Jacobs Park, on
- Fairview Avenue south of Prince Road.
- Himmel Park, north parking lot, on
- First Street east of Tucson Boulevard
- .
Centers that will remain open are:
- Mansfield Park, on
- Fourth Avenue one block south of Grant.
- Ward 5 Council Office, 4300 S. Park Ave.
- Patrick K. Hardesty Center,
- northwest corner of Alvernon Way and 22nd Street.
- Los Reales Landfill,
- 5300 E. Los Reales Road.
The new locations, opening in July:
- Fire Station 15,
- 2002 S. Mission Road.
- Eastside City Hall,
- 7575 E. Speedway.
- Ward 4 Office,
- 8123 E. Poinciana Drive.
