The city of Tucson is planning to close South Stone Avenue between Broadway and Cushing Street on Saturday morning to accommodate an expected large number of people attending services for veteran Tucson Fire Capt. Martin Green.

Stone will be closed from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for the services at St. Augustine Cathedral. Also, side streets in the closure — Jackson, Ochoa and McCormick streets — will also be closed to traffic.

Green, 51, died Aug. 13 after a sudden illness. He had been with the Tucson Fire Department since 1990 and was well known in the community.

His celebration of life at the cathedral is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday.
