Nathaniel "Mel" Williams and Jessica Hoover

Cochise County officials arrested two people in connection with a months-long investigation into local drug trafficking, police said.

On June 14, deputies with the Cochise County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Nathaniel "Mel" Williams, the main target in the investigation, and executed a search warrant at the Mountain Vista Apartments, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Deputies seized more than $13,000 dollars, three vehicles, several pounds of methamphetamine, and smaller amounts of marijuana, cocaine and heroin. Police also recovered three loaded handguns, one of which had been reported stolen out of Bisbee, the release said.

Williams was arrested in connection with charges of possession of dangerous drugs, narcotic drugs and marijuana for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, misconduct involving weapons in a drug offense and by a prohibited possessor and possession of stolen property.

Jessica Hoover was also arrested in connection with the incident and booked on similar charges.
