Pima County Public Service Center

The Pima County Justice Court will be open Dec. 6 for people to resolve outstanding warrants and suspended licenses.

Pima County officials plan an open house at the Public Service Center building on Saturday, Jan. 9.

Members of the public are invited to visit the the new facility at 38 E. Alameda Street from 10 a.m. to noon.

The building houses justice court, county treasurer, constable, recorder, assessor and the superior court clerk.

Visitors will learn of the services provided through the county offices at the facility and of the archeological and other challenges faced during construction.

Construction of the building cost nearly $130 million. Funded primarily through a $76 million 2004 voter-approved bond, original estimates put costs at $91 million.

The discovery of human remains underground at the site added millions of dollars to construction costs.

The area had long been a cemetery dating from the territorial era but officials presumed all the remains had been removed decades prior as the location had been long been the site of development, including at one time the Arizona Daily Star building among others.

Today, the county service center building stands seven stories tall and spans 272,000 square feet.

Free parking will be available for the open house. More information available at http://webcms.pima.gov/cms/One.aspx?portalId=169&pageId=234490.
