A woman was killed and a companion was injured when they were struck by a pickup truck while running across West Valencia, Tucson police say.
The crash happened about 6:45 p.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of West Valencia, near South Midvale Road, Tucson police said Monday in a news release.
The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the crash scene. A man who was with her was taken to the hospital with injuries deemed not life threatening.
The driver of the silver 2011 GMC Canyon who struck the pair stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with police.
The driver was not impaired, but officers said they found drugs and paraphernalia on the woman.
The investigation continues.
