Tucson police shut down the First Avenue and River Road intersection for several hours due to a multi-vehicle crash with serious injuries, authorities say.

Police say one person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries considered to be non-life-threatening.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection at about 4 p.m. The road was reopened shortly before 7 p.m.
