Tucson's 10 Peter Piper Pizza locations are adding extra security after an elderly customer at a south side store was hit on the head with a metal pipe by a man who stole one of the pizzas she’d just picked up.

The afternoon attack on a 77-year-old woman occurred about 3:45 p.m. April 21, near South 12th Avenue and West Ajo Way.

A video of the attack was made public Tuesday by the Tucson Police Department, which has not yet identified the attacker.

TPD is  hoping someone might have seen something that could helpful to investigators.

"If you frequent this area and have seen someone matching the description, please call so we can get this guy off the street," TPD said in a news release on social media.

The robber  is described as a short, dark-skinned man with a "wrinkly face."

Security video released by TPD shows a man carrying a long, thin object as he hung around outside the store's front door. He seemed at first to be opening the door for the victim to leave, then whacked her over the head as she was about to exit.

Jennifer Krebs, a spokeswoman for 10 local Peter Piper stores, said the victim is one of the store's regular customers and is "doing ok," in the wake of the attack.

Company officials said they can't recall a similar incident at any of its Tucson stores.

Krebs said John Baxla, the franchisee who operates the stores, "takes the security of our stores very seriously and has implemented new security policies and increased personnel to ensure a safe environment for our customers."

The changes were put in place immediately at the store on South 12th Avenue and will begin at all other stores on April 29, she said.

TPD IS asking anyone with information to call 911, or 88-CRIME, to file report anonymously.
