A 19-year-old Mexican national has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a U.S. Border Patrol agent in southern Arizona.
The incident occurred Wednesday night south of Bisbee, Border Patrol officials say.
A Tucson Sector Border Patrol agent responded to reports of a possible immigrant who had crossed the border illegally.
Authorities say the agent confronted the 19-year-old man. The migrant fought with the agent and then hit him in the head with a rock.
The agent was taken to the hospital and has since been released.
The migrant briefly fled but was taken into custody.
He has been processed for immigration violations and will be charged with assaulting a federal agent.
